Landon Whitley was 8 years old when an ambulance crashed into his family’s car on October 19, 1997, killing his dad instantly. Landon was also critically injured and resuscitated multiple times that day. “I didn’t see what he was yelling at,” Landon’s mom, Julie Kemp, recalled, “but I remember him yelling.”
Rescuers initially missed Landon due to the car’s damage but found him after spotting his shoe. He was airlifted to a hospital, where doctors warned Julie he might not survive. “They told me that if he lived… he would be like an 8-year-old baby,” Julie said. Despite the grim prognosis, she prayed fervently for her son.
During this time, Julie felt abandoned by God. “I was very disappointed, heartbroken,” she admitted. At her husband’s funeral, she wrestled with her faith, praying for Landon’s recovery.
Miraculously, after two weeks in a coma, Landon opened his eyes. He later claimed he visited heaven and returned with a message from Jesus. “He was all that I had,” Julie emphasized, grateful for her son’s survival.
Landon’s experience profoundly impacted him and his mother, who believed his recovery was an answer to her prayers.
