In 1975, a famous musician met the iconic actress Goldie Hawn. They were both successful in their careers at the time.
Their connection was immediate when they first met on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. The musician was part of The Hudson Brothers, a well-known music group. He had also worked with famous bands like The Beach Boys and The Monkees. He even acted in films and TV shows, including a movie called Hysterical.
The musician shared that their attraction was instant, and they went out to dinner on the same night they met. Their relationship moved quickly, and they got married in 1976, after Goldie became pregnant with their first child, a son. However, the birth of their son wasn’t easy.
He was born with a serious condition called meconium aspiration, which happens when a newborn inhales amniotic fluid. This caused him to be very sick, and he had to stay in the hospital for three days. Thankfully, he recovered, and his parents saw him as their “miracle child.”
In 1979, the couple had their second child, a daughter. For a while, they enjoyed family life together, but their marriage started to fall apart.
The musician wanted a traditional marriage, while Goldie had a different view. She was open about wanting an open marriage and not being tied to just one person. This difference caused their relationship to end in 1981.
After their split, Goldie began dating actor Kurt Russell in 1983. They had worked together before but didn’t start dating until they reunited on the set of the movie Swing Shift. They eventually had a son together, named Wyatt Russell, in 1986.
Blending their families was challenging, especially for Goldie’s older children from her first marriage. Her son and daughter, Oliver and Kate, struggled with feelings of abandonment after their father distanced himself from them.
Over time, Kate and Oliver grew closer to Kurt, who became a father figure to them. Although their biological father, Bill Hudson, felt betrayed and claimed that Goldie turned their children against him, Kate and Oliver were grateful to Kurt for stepping in and being there for them.
The strained relationship with Bill became more public in 2015 when Oliver posted a hurtful Father’s Day message on social media, calling it “Happy abandonment day.” This post deeply upset Bill, and he later said that Oliver and Kate were “dead” to him.
Despite the ongoing tension with Bill, Kate and Oliver have chosen to focus on the positive relationships they’ve built with Kurt. While Bill remains angry, Kurt has embraced his role as a father and even a grandfather to Kate and Oliver’s children.
